| i heard tat for givin the ST papers u need to ve worked in ne insurance company for a year or so.....is it true?? |

Hi...
In order to receive the final fellowship you need some work experience in addition you also need to go for some workshops or something.. but at this point of time you do not need to worry about it..
That's because only CT series is the type that you give without working, for subjects in CA and higher series you need to work in order to get a proper grasp of what you are supposed to study. |

I would say that you can even clear CA subjects without getting work ex.
But for ST subjects (except perhaps ST5 and 6) you need to have exposure of the day to day working of the related field as only 20-30% questions are bookwork. |

I beg to differ, I dont think it is that important to have working knowledge of the ST paper u intend to attempt, ofcourse some experience would help, but I know of many people who have cleared ST papers without any prior experience...In fact I am attempting ST2 Life Insurance even though I work in a different line and am finding the course material quite alright.
If only 20-30% of the questions were bookwork then why would IOA and ASI ask people to clear 2 ST papers instead of 1, although I might say your argument probably holds true in case of SOA & CAS exams. |
