Hi I am currently studying actuarial science in the United States. After passing 1-2 exams how much jobs are available in India. I want to move back. Also if I pass exams here does that mean I qualify to be an actuary in India? Or do I need to retest over there. What is the income over there? Here starting salary is around $80,000 and with every passing exam it increases. Is it similar in India? Which place in India hires a lot of actuaries.
Thanks for help |

| Those who are hiring will see the title of the paper & the stuff required to clear those papers. See if you have passed any of CT4 , CT5 , CT6 & CT8 , there is a known fact that you have the strength in that area. Recruiters see your willingness to study the next level papers too ,,, .The starting salary in India is very less, plz don't compare with US or UK salaries.. |

I doubt the starting salary in US is 80,000 for 1-2 exam students even in high cost of living areas. You can refer to DW Simpson salary survey for the correct figures. One rule of thumb popular among IT guys returning to India, the expected Indian salary is 35-50% of current US salary in Rs. (ie. US Salary X 46 X 50%). I don’t know how applicable this is for actuaries.
To the OP,
I was told by one recruiter (he was from Singapore though) one should shift to Asian market after getting ASA (at least) and north of 3 years of experience. Indian actuarial job market (most of the markets for that matter) is flooded with entry level candidates and job scenario at entry level is extremely bleak. However looking at ASI membership data, it seems there is still scarcity of actuaries at associate level and up.
If you qualify as a fellow in US then you can apply for Affiliate membership (with few restrictions) from ASI and you will be treated as a fellow from ASI for most of the practical purposes. |

The next change is to deprecate the support for overly minimal themes. Prior to WordPress 3.0 any theme which was using the relevant template tag but missing any of the following template files – header.php, footer.php, sidebar.php, comments.php, comments-popup.php – would effectively behave as if it has a parent theme defined as ‘default’ using the relevant files from the old default theme.
Now that we are moving to a new default theme we didn’t want to have to support this very old behaviour indefinitely or make it such that the files from the TwentyTen theme were used as they have a different visual layout and would like change peoples existing sites.
Going forward a WordPress theme using the relevant template tags is expected to contain all these files itself, or have them provided by a parent theme, and the theme compatibility files included in WordPress 3.0 will be removed in a future version.
If you are using a theme which is affected by this change then you just need to make sure that you have the default theme installed – it will not be in new installs but will be preserved on upgrades. Then add the following to the comment at the top of the style.css of your theme to make it such that the default theme is used as its parent theme:
